MARKHAM SPEED SKATING CLUB Race Results 2005-2006

Home
A core group of a dozen skaters raced regularly during the 2005-2006 season and performed very credibly.
Here's a summary of their results.

Cameron Mitchell reached the Provincial Championships and placed 2nd. in Bantam Boys.
This is the first time a Markham skater has won a medal at the Provincial Championships.

Callista Bennett and Alexandra Ianculescu were the first skaters from the Club to compete
in the Ontario Winter Games for almost 15 years. Both placed 8th.: Callista in Senior Women
and Alex in Junior Women. Kevin Sun qualified as an alternate, but did not get to race.

Andrew Godbout and Jordan Belchos qualified for the 'Own The Podium - 2010' program which
will support them to train to compete for spots on the Canadian Olympic long track team for the
2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver. As a result, they have both moved to Calgary. We will
miss them.

Gary Witney tied the Ontario record for 777 metres in the Masters 4 Men age category.
Unfortunately for him, the record was broken again the following race meet!

All racers set personal best times in various distances, most more than once during the season.
Here are some of the highlights and milestones.
